Nutrition in winter reduces the storage of vitamins and anti-oxidants in the human body as the food we eat in this season lacks vitamins, which causes ‘devitaminization’ of our body. Eating extra fresh vegetations in spring protects the balance of the body and increases the resistance of it against diseases and external factors. Allah, the Most Great and Exalted, grants us with countless blessings. We must definitely use them.

Mallow: It can be found in all our regions and even in Baku at every step. You can make delicious soup or gutab[1] with it. The substance called maldivine inside it is a very powerful disinfectant. It is quite useful for oral cavity, lung diseases and gastric ulcer.

         Nettle: Its fresh leaves are sold in all markets. It is very helpful to beat your feet with fresh nettle leaves in rheumatic disease. After soaking fresh leaves in water for 5-6 hours, extract their juice and drink it in the morning on a hungry stomach. It is very healing for the body. It removes anemia, protects against cancer and even minimizes cancerous tumors. Its composition is the whole Mendeleev’s table. It reproduces new blood cells.

         Fresh garlic: Green garlic is much richer for its composition than head garlic. It has a very powerful bactriocyte and anti-tumor effect. Extracting its juice, mixing it with lemon juice and then drinking it on an empty stomach is very effective for those who suffer from cancer. It is a very powerful helminthic. Eating it with meals causes all the worms, especially lamblias, drop out of the body.

         Asparagus: It is rich in vitamin U. Vitamin U is very useful for gastrointestinal wounds, gastritis and colitis. Asparagus should be pregnant women’s favorite food because it contains folic acid. It affects the blood production and reproduces new blood. It is also useful for eyes as it is rich in vitamin A. It is effective it for nephritis. You can slightly fry it before eating.

         Chickweed: It is an indispensible vegetation of the spring. It makes excellent gutabs. It contains almost all vitamins. It eliminates heartburn after drinking just a half a glass of chickweed tea. It is fairly useful for intestines. We can surely name it a friend of the liver. It gradually decreases the all the ferments which increases as a result of liver deficiency. It is useful to drink during the thyroid gland insufficiency. Drinking its tea in the evening calms the nerves and causes deep sleep. Definitely feed this plant to your children. 

         Water mint: Another indispensible plant of the spring is the water mint. Collect water mint, chop it up and cook it with eggs or mix it with your tea and drink it. It is a very good anti-flatulent remedy. It comforts the body, calms the nerves. You can collect it, dry it and drink it as sedative tea. It has a beautiful odor, too.

         Basil: Although it is a type of green, it is also a perfect medicinal plant. It makes a good fruit compote. It makes the digestion easy when eaten along with food. It makes the intestines work and feeds the heart. It contains rich vitamins and provokes the appetite. Our Prophet (Peace and Blessing be upon Him) said about the basil: “Whoever is given basil should accept it. It has a beautiful scent. It eliminates oedemas and purifies kidneys. Its odor increases the sexual desire.”

         Spinach: Wild spinach is a medicine of life. This plant has so many vitamins and minerals that one whole list would not be enough to enumerate them all. Eat it abundantly. It makes the perfect gutab. It is a total cure for the body which weakened throughout the winter as well as for children.          

Honey-ginger-lemon mixture

         Honey-ginger-lemon is a kind of mixture in which all the ingredients complement each other. For instance, if lemon decreases the blood ratio and blood pressure, honey solves these problems.

         Although very useful, ginger causes problems in usage due to its bitter taste. But honey and lemon eliminate this bitterness. It is a quite useful drink for colds, obesity, heart pains, constant freezing, loss of appetite, fatigue, depression, weak immune system, as well as for improving blood circulation in the body.

  • Fresh lemon – 200 grams;
  • Fresh ginger – 150 grams;
  • Honey – 500 grams.
