Natural Bread Yeast: Benefits and Preparation

Be mindful of the bread, which Allah, the Most High, has sent down from the abundance of heaven. (Note: this hadith was mentioned by Ibn-al-Jawzi in his book named “Fictional Stories” (3/104 – 1315). Talha ibn Zayd mentioned in its document is someone who constantly narrates fabricated ahadith.) The yeast of the bread that all of us eat today is a chemical ingredient made artificially. Actually, it is not yeast at all. There is a huge difference between the bread baked with artificial yeast and the bread baked with natural yeast. We shorten our life by eating artificial yeast because artificial yeast decelerates the absorption of minerals and vitamins, disrupts intestinal microflora, weakens our immune system and increases our susceptibility to allergies. But natural yeast has the totally opposite effect, and helps us lead the life Allah has blessed us with in a healthy way.

         In the past, people used to ferment a small part of dough and added it to the rest of the dough to bake bread, but nowadays many people do not know how to make natural yeast. I am going to write several methods. You can use whichever you find more efficient.

1. Take a glass of peas, a kilo of flour and some water. Moisturize the peas a day earlier, then peel and mash them. Next, add some water and flour and mix them together until the mixture becomes like dough. Considering that the size of the dough will triple, put the dough inside a container which is three times larger than it. After that, store it at room temperature for 12-18 hours. Finally, your yeast is ready.

Take some part of the yeast and store it in the fridge. Whenever dough is fermented, you can take and store it and use it as yeast later. It is best to make the yeast from the wholemeal flour ground in a mill in a traditional way. In this case, the yeast becomes a better quality.

2. Brew 40 grams of hopes cones in 0.5 liter of water. Make dough after filtering it by adding a kilo of flour to its water and mixing them. Wait for 12-18 hours. The yeast is ready.

3. Brew 50 grams of lime-blossom in 0.5 liter of water, filter it and make dough by mixing it with a kilo of flour. The yeast will be ready in 12-18 hours.

Both you and your children should try to eat bread made from natural yeast and wholemeal. 10 days after you eat it, you will feel change for better in your body.
