Ottoman sherbet (syrup)

It is probably one of the best kinds of beverage in hot Ramadan days. Ottoman sherbet is recommended both for its delicious taste and its benefit for human body. Ottoman sultans hardly ever missed it on their tables.

Ingredients:

  • Water – 3 liters
  • Dried hibiscus – 50 grams
  • Dried apricots – 100 grams
  • Dried figs – 100 grams
  • Raisins – 200 grams
  • Dried greengage plum – 100 grams
  • Cinnamon – 5 sticks
  • Clove – 1 teaspoon
  • Ginger root – 2 pieces (10 grams)
  • Granulated sugar – 400 grams or 500 grams of honey
